2. Low-calorie phase: This is the most crucial part of the HCG diet and usually lasts for 3 to 6 weeks. You are required to restrict your calorie intake to around 500-800 calories per day, which is significantly lower than the average recommended daily caloric intake for most adults. The HCG hormone is believed to help suppress hunger and fatigue during this phase, allowing you to adhere to the strict low-calorie diet.

While some people may experience weight loss while following the HCG diet, it is likely due to the severe calorie restriction rather than the HCG hormone itself.
